Underground phone pranks.
« on: May 03, 2009, 08:05:01 PM »
Does anybody have an interest in these?  I have a tape with some.  Has anyone heard of the "graden groove" pranks?  I'd like to know if there are more pranks by them out there.  I posted one on my blog a while back check it out if your interested.

Earles and Jensen have good prank-call recordings

Andy Earles used to call in to the Best Show as Skag Winesack and various other malcontents.

I used to have a cassette tape called "Savage Vigilance for a Rug-free America". It was a couple of obnoxious dudes prank-calling fundamentalist Christian radio stations.

... and in searching it out, I've stumbled upon the "prank call central" site. So there you go .

Those guys had a few good calls on there. In a similar vein is Brother Russell. He would use this perfect old lady voice ("Melba") that suckered in plenty of fundamentalist radio jerks.

He's on prank call central, as well...

Longmont Potion Castle are the best ones.  Just listen to the outtakes on the site.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Why are so many pranks racist beyond belief? I love prank phone calls, the good ones, but damn.

Anyone heard the Kathy McGinty pranks? They're pretty filthy and weird but they're also surreal enough to qualify as some kind of genius.

This is the track I was originally trying to find out about.  I have had this recording since 1994.  I can't seem to find any mention of it anywhere.  The only reference I found is his mention of garden groove as new Saigon towards the beginning of the call.  That I believe is a reference to this prank here.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fo6cYQf4h18

Its just amazing that he is able to keep her on the phone for so long with this fake character.  I think it has a best show kinship for obvious reasons.  Hope the fots enjoy this.
