Talented Jerks
« on: June 03, 2009, 06:25:14 PM »
This is pretty self-explanatory. Who are some talented people from the world of entertainment, athletics, etc. that also happen to be absolute creeps? If you have ever had any personal encounters with such people, you can share them here.

I'll give a couple of names that immediately spring to mind:

Miles Davis
Phil Spector
Jay Reatard
Dave Kingman

Kingman's a jerk?
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Kingman's a jerk?

He once sent a live rat to a female sportswriter. I suppose there are worse things that one could do, however.

But it does indicate certain "anti-social" tendencies.

Lou Reed is a jerk? I'm really sorry to hear that.

Ezra Pound really could just about top any list of talented jerks. Great poet, but an intellectual fascist. 'Nuff said.

Did you ever read that interview that he did with Lester Bangs c. 1975? I think it's in one of those Bangs anthologies that came out a few years ago. He comes across as a complete tool. Of course, the copious amount of drugs that he was ingesting probably affected his disposition. But if you read any recent interviews, he really hasn't changed all that much.

Come to think of it, Lester Bangs would probably belong on this list also.

David O. Russell

And btw, I think this one:

Phil Spector

may transcend the 'jerk' category.
