The Boondock Saints Commiseration Thread
« on: June 28, 2009, 09:05:50 AM »
I just found out a woman I've been seeing (or now, was) is a fan of The Boondock Saints.  This may be the one entertainment-related dealbreaker I have left.   It seems I can't escape encountering seemingly normal people who suddenly express fandom for Troy Duffy's magnum opus.

Feel free to share your awkward experiences dealing with Boondock Saints fans, or otherwise relate how the movie has affected your life in a negative way.

ChrisL #2, your intolerance is remarkable -- and appreciated!
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

It's right up there with Donnie Darko, agreed.

Once me and my friends passed 25, I stopped hearing anyone bring that movie up in a positive light.

Anyone who still likes Boondock Saints probably likes to attend screenings of The Room because they have some surplus of precious hours in their life.

Why you gotta throw The Room under the bus?

That's one of those movies a friend raved about going so far as to force his copy into my hands and say I must watch it.

I didn't hate it.
But my main issue with it was the inconsistency of tone, it wanted to be gritty and at the same time catoony. Which Tarantino can make work sometimes but I thought fell flat every time here.

The latest movie I can't understand why ppl like so much if Forgetting Sarah Marshall, some of the bits are mildly funny but overall it seemed like an avg episode of Three's Company to me, complete with Regale Beagle.

I don't like anything with Irish people or Catholics in it.

You're never going to walk away from a five-story fall with that attitude.

Worst piece of fuuuuuuuudge I've ever seen. It's like Insane Clown Posse, where I hate both the art and the fans of the artist.

I thought Forgetting Sarah Marshall was great. One thing that struck me about it was how real the problems were in it - no bullshit cartoon villains, but a bunch of people you could sympathize with. It's also one of the few movies with a big ending song where it actually lived up to the build-up instead of falling flat.

as a youngster, there was no ill will towards Boondock Saints, but you get older and you see the light.  it's not quite a dealbreaker, but ive allowed lesser things to come between myself and another person.  no harm, no foul, ChrisL.

regarding The Room, im with Spoony.
