NYC's Alternative High School "City As School"

WHAT'S SPECIAL: Haven for disaffected youth.
DOWNSIDE: Access to gym is limited and the elderly building has cramped quarters.

http://www.city-as-school.org/

From an insideschools.org review:

"Since 1972, City-as-School has been a haven for kids who are alienated by traditional classrooms. Students who could not thrive at their original schools including rebels, openly gay kids, kids who have been teased for their looks, and a good number of disaffected academic achievers find a welcome here."

My favorite part: <title> tag still reads as 'Untitled Document'

Nice. That school produced this kid:

He was inspired by Fight Club to try and blow up a Starbucks in Manhattan.

Yes! I saw that too ... this is exactly why I gave up on that movie. Culture jamming is just dumb. It's a very weak way to justify breaking the law.

Okay, maybe it's not a great product. I don't personally know.
And sometimes I think it's a GREAT website.
You decide. Get back to me.
Are these things allowed here?:

I went to 'School As a City'.

Their theme song was Foghat's 'Fool for the City', with new lyrics.

From the business world:

It's like they made it a challenge to get where you want to go.  A puzzle, if you will, but with no feeling of reward at the end.
This site simply made me mad. It did get me to think about aspirin, though.

Recently bought a pair of these for bike riding / exercising purposes. Great product, crappy website. I think I was reminded by the "manties" post.

Before the redesign, I would have volunteered WFMU's website for this topic.

this was recommended to me as best place on the internet to get ostrich feather performance fans, but it's the worst website. the mannequins modeling the fans are especially creepy.  also, they have a "meat" section, which i have never clicked on, but i'm assuming that it has something to do with the rest of the ostrich.

I don't know that I would necessarily call the product "great" (from my perspective), but the site for the museum/camp where I work qualifies as crappy:

http://www.discoverymuseum.org/Summer/summerindex.html

Note that the page title is still "Summer Camp 2005" and the extensive use of lame clip art in the program descriptions.

This should be called "enraging websites."

I actually bought a pair of Birdwell Beach Britches on Yesno's recommendation.  And they really were awesome, so I bought a second pair.

They were from a shop in NC, though.  I'll be damned if I can navigate that site.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I thought of this thread as I searched the web for NYC hotels:
http://www.madison-hotel.com/RoomDesc.htm
wasn't pretty, but this one is terrible:
http://www.heraldsquarehotel.com/
Just because it has so much random information crammed into every sidelink, that you aren't sure which page you clicked on.

(On a side note, does anyone have any feedback on this hotel? It seems pretty neat. http://www.carltonarms.com/)

Those rectangular link boxes are the hallmark of the first generation of Microsoft FrontPage.  Which means it was done a looong time ago.
