I need to buy a wireless router for my niece so she can Facebook on it 24-hours a day do homework. Anyone know of a good, cheap router?

Routers are supercheap on craigslist. Linksys/Netgear/D-Link - never had problems with any of those brands.

I need one too- our AT&T modem/router business (is it possible to buy a modem or can you only get that from the internet company?) died. They're supposedly sending another, but the router part of it sucked anyway.

Routers are super-easy to install these days (finally). Just make sure you get one that supports "N" protocols, like yesno said.

I still hear about a lot of people having cutout problems with N routers. I live in an apartment so I've stuck with my Linksys G router but I wonder if you need to spend some good money to get a reliable N router. I would have assumed that all N technology would be reliable by now, but I've heard this from at least 10 people firsthand.

I have had no trouble.  And usually problems with cutouts are solved with a firmware update.  One thing, if you have a non-N device on an N network it'll drop everyone down to G, unless you have a "dual band" router which can do G and N simultaneously.  And while N has better range than G, unless you're doing a lot of networking within your network, you probably won't notice the extra speed.  Most cable and DSL connections are the chokepoint, not your wireless.  Ok.
