I need a place to start with Mighty Boosh. I've watched random episodes on-demand and I feel like I'm missing something.

Milky Joe episode is hilarious.

Generalization ahead:

I've noticed that Boosh are a lot more popular with women than lots of other cult comedy.  Some ladies I know who recoil in non-laughter at say Tim and Eric are obsessed with Boosh.

I'd say in general terms your probably right, i think its because noel is a bit of a sex symbol over here as is julien and even naboo hahaha. Also the comedy isnt crude or sexually derogatory. its just silly.  :D

At their shows there are always lots of screaming teens, like rock stars of the comedy world.

I personally would say start with the legend of old gregg or the new sound.

Definitely not old greg. At least for someone's first episode.

See, I prefer this.

Boosh is for the lasses (nothing wrong with that)
Darkplace is for full grown men of taste an sophistication

Well, sure, Darkplace is better.  But Darkplace is better than almost anything.

You know, I feel a mad coming on. Will one of you full grown men of taste and sophistication tell me that a) my hair looks nice, or b) it looks like I've lost weight, whichever seems more plausible?

This Boosh appreciation thread, which was rolling along nicely, just took a turn at stupid.

You're assuming TE is a full grown man... mentally at least.

I never got into Darkplace, but maybe I should give it another try. I'm always looking for ways to augment my masculinity.

I love the Mighty Boosh as well but it's true, Darkplace is better than everything. Speaking of British television shows, does anyone like the IT crowd?

The IT Crowd is a more conventional sit com, but there is funniness to it.  Matt Berry is really good in the second series.  And I have a soft spot for Richard Ayoade.

I was not madly wowed by Darkplace.  Oh, it's funny, but the mechanism that produces the laughs is so predictable.  The thing I like about Boosh is its sheer oddness.  There's also lots of very quick, nonsensical wordplay.
