Perhaps a good time for a first visit to NYC?

It would be good to see them again.

Cool, but hopefully something more comes of it. Playing for a few thousand people in New York isn't really reuniting.

that's true. But it's a long time between now and 9/21/10, and I think there's got to be more coming!

This will be called off as soon as I send Steven Malkmus the withering call that Tom and "a listener" had about his solo album.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

His solo stuff is garbage. He needs Spiral to even him out.

Like I said in the chat last night, I'm not interested in a Pavement reunion unless Gary Young is involved.

I would agree that his first solo album is garbage, I dig his other records.

That would be great. Hell, I'd take another solo album from Mark Hollis, that first one is so good.

I think all of Malkmus' solo albums are above average and a few of the songs rival Pavement's best, like Jennifer and the Ess Dog, Do Not Feed the Oyster and It Kills.

For those who minimize Gary Young's contribution to Pavement, I can only say as someone who saw them with Gary a bunch of times - including some of their first shows - Gary Young was AWESOME. He was like a comet, streaking through the sky; not meant to last forever but brilliant while it lasted.

Tom.

I like Steve West a great deal. He was the drummer on my favorite Pavement album, Wowee Zowee. But he's no Gary Young.

On his best day, Steve West couldn't have come up with anything this great.
