I actually kinda enjoy the whole sync process.  I don't know why...

I did notice that Paul F. Tomkins has been twittering with Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett, so maybe there's a chance he'll guest riff?  That would be awesome.

Boy, wouldn't that be a comedy fans cream dream? I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this idea.

I have a huge space in my comedy heart carved out for all MST3Kers - they can do no wrong, ever. I would die of happiness if we had a crossover event like this ... if someone from EdgyLand (tompkins) got his chocolate in the Midwestern Boys'  (Murphy, Corbett, Nelson et al) peanut butter? Comedy gold.

I went to school in the midwest, and i just love their comedic sensibility -its always these big, doofy white guys with seemingly bland exteriors that have razor sharp powers of observation hidden underneath. I met tons of guys like this, from whereverinthefuck, Wisconsin, and they would just make you die laughing all the while looking like they could help you pass your calculus midterm.

They only "look" that way.  I bet.

I picked up a bunch of Rifftrax DVDs when Deepdiscount had their 25% off sale a few months ago...I finally got around to watching the Best of Shorts DVDs yesterday, and they were seriously hilarious.  Highly recommended!

As a longtime MST3K I'm enjoying both Rifftrax and Cinematic Titanic, though I'll echo the warning that Rifftrax is NOT MST3K.  For a more conscious attempt to replicate MST3K stick with Cinematic Titanic, though for my money the Rifftrax are a better bargain.  Though if Cinematic Titanic Live visits your town it is not to be missed!

I tend to like the Rifftrax of terrible recent Hollywood films rather than the fanboy flicks.  I'm sure their Star Wars/LoTR/Spider-Man series sell better so whatever pays the rent.  Crossroads, Next, Cloverfield are all favorites, wish they did more ridiculous films like those or The Day After Tomorrow though they've started focusing on that genre again with Twilight, The Room and Red Dawn (with Joel McHale).  The shorts are uneven though their best efforts are easily MST3K quality, Harm: Safety Hides at Home and Drugs Are Like That are high points.  I'm way behind on my shorts though.

Patton or PFT would easily slot into guest-starring on one of these, they'd just need to find a movie everyone is comfortable with.  PFT takes on 10,000 BC?  Patton and the latest X-Files movie?  The more ponderous the better!

Note that Hodgeman referenced Rifftrax on the 11/3/09 show!  Perhaps it is in their flightpath?  I think he should do Turbulence.

If only they rifftrax-ed TV. I'd pay big money for a PFT rifftrax of some Studio 60 episodes.

They've done a few ... the first couple episodes of Lost and Heroes IIRC.  Grey's Anatomy too.  And of course the legendary Star Wars Christmas Special (an excellent episode).  But not much in recent memory.

Anyone going to Cinematic Titanic this weekend? There's a show in NYC on Saturday.

If you've ever been, how was it? What movie did they do? Tell me!

I went to a show in Philadelphia last New Year and it was hilarious.  They played Insect Wars (or Genocide), Samson and the Seven Miracles of the World, and The Oozing Skull.  Dave Gruber was the MC and had a great opening set.

They did the Lost pilot. Didn't see it but heard it was great.

I held a 3rd screening of RiffTrax "The Room" for friends last weekend. It seriously never gets old.

This is probably the most insane movie they've ever riffed, MST3K included. A lot of that has to do with the fact that Santa Claus only shows up for about twenty minutes and the "Ice Cream Bunny," five. The rest is a really bizarre, cheap adaptation of Thumbelina.

Rifftrax - Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny Sample!

Did Tom do a live riff of something on the best show? How'd that go?

A movie called Roadhouse I've never seen it.

Just watched this today. I don't think I will EVER get the picture of Ben Gazzara singing along to Hybrid Moments in his car.

Saw that this thread was bumped -- I figure there's no harm in letting this known, but I interviewed Bill Corbett a little while ago, and off-the-record suggested Tom and PFT as guest riffers. He said they'd had PFT lined up for something (which turned out to be the last live show). Bill also had great things to say about Tom and the Best Show, and that he'd suggest it to the other RiffTrax guys (who knows if he ever did). Fingers crossed.
