Enhanced Interrogation
« on: October 22, 2009, 02:52:03 PM »
Music used by the U.S. for purposes of enhanced interrogation according to the Freedom of Information Act (according to this pdf):

Not sure how anything by the Stanley Brothers got on there, and how "Casey Jones" by the Grateful Dead did not get on there.

I hope they've limited their FOIA request sufficiently.  There are endless government reports, documents and internal communiqués that reference "Meow mix jingle."  Those bureaucats can't stop talking about it.

Also I see Don McClean.  I wonder whose side the CIA is on with regard to the Breckman feud?

^^^

I thought I had a typo when I saw I wrote "Don McClean."  But it turns out that's what in the document, not Don McLean.  Maybe it's a jingle composer.

I can't believe Matchbox 20 is on there. What, was there no Dave Matthews Band or Hootie & The Blowfish on hand?

And in God's name, what James Taylor song did they use? I can't think of any of his songs that wouldn't make me sleepy.

Well, I just hope the artists are getting royalty payments for their meritorious service to our country.

This list is just what's on the interrogators' iPods, Sansa Media Players and Zunes, right?  I am super suprised there is no Bloodhound Gang on here.

I guess that list would work... they could have just asked to borrow Andy Brekman's iPod though.

C'mon Prince.  Don't let up on your reputation of being extremely protective of your music now.

with the exception of the Meow Mix Jingle and Deicide, I'm pretty surprised at how bland this list is. I always figured that they would use really abrasive Nurse with Wound/ Whitehouse type stuff, rather than songs cherry-picked off the FM dial.

I agree with KTB. I think I'm going to put together a mix CD for the CIA and Army psyops.

Please include any/all bands featuring Genesis P. Orridge.

They should just play the entire Merzbox.
