« on: October 28, 2009, 11:51:04 PM »
does anyone recall the name of that horrible/amazing (baseball?) rap song from the 80s that was somewhat recently dissected on the show? i can't even remember the team or the exact sport, only that it was so bad that i need to hear it again. i think it was from an episode in the past month or two and patton oswalt or pft might have been a guest. sheesh, i don't know why i can't find it..

The name of the song is "Get Metsmerized!"

I would link to the YouTube video, except it was taken down due to "terms of use violation."

That would be "Get Metsmerized" as performed by the 1986 New York Mets and their wives and a drum machine.

My jaw fell to the floor as Tom started talking about it, as it's a long-running gag between me & my brother.  The record is sitting in my hand as we speak.  You will be glad to know that it is b/w "Get Metsmerized (instrumental)" so that you and your friends can pretend that you are the Metropolitans and rap like crap, too.

That would be "the song I burst into my roommate's room singing when her alarm doesn't go off and I know she doesn't want to be late for class."

My favorite part of that video is where Rick James pumps his fist in ecstasy as Eddie Murphy strains his thin reedy voice trying to bring the song home. It's awfulsome. Is there some kind of website where computer dumdums can make gifs easily?
Remember how he couldn't stop his leg?

I was just listening to this show again today. I agree with Patton: making poor Rafael Santana rap on that thing was almost a hate crime.
