Comic book geeks

As some of you may know, Jim Hanley's Universe here in NYC is having a big sale this weekend to coincide with the NY Comic Con.

I know from the chat that a lot of you are comic readers and while I certainly have my own list of things I'd like to pick up I would like to hear any suggestions and recommendations. So please, feel free to geek it up...

What, like trade paper backs? I really liked American Way. You should check that out. Also, pick up a couple of 100 Bullets books, especially the one that introduces Cole. I freaking love the ice cream truck vignettes. Speaking of Azzarello books, I highly recommend Lex Luthor, Man of Steel. It's fantastic.

Ooh, and Crossing Midnight! Pick up the first couple of issues. Check it out, it's good stuff! I love Mike Carey.

Ooh, and DMZ! I picked up the trade, and it's pretty great. So is Testament, if you really liked your religious studies classes in college.

Ugh, I freaking hated Old Boy the movie. I can't imagine I'd like the manga any more.

I was thinking of checking out "Crossing Midnight" and "DMZ." I'll probably pick up the first trades of each.

Has anyone read "Desolation Jones?" I've heard good things.

How about "Checkmate?" I loved Greg Rucka's work on "Gotham Central" but I haven't heard much about this book.

I wish 2000A.D. (or whoever owns them these days) would issue Marvel Essentials style reprints of the old judge dredd series. I heart that stuff. Speaking of horrible movie adaptations....
