Tom, you should have Hodgman about his appearance on HBO's BORED TO DEATH.

I am eager to see the boxing match between he and Schwartzman.  I can't decide who to cheer for though.

Oh Spike, Mr. Hodgman was just on the show last week. You can listen to the show if you're not on it, you know.

Did any UK-based FOTs (or non-UK based FOTs with the internet and a penchant for trivia based panel shows) see John Hodgman on this weeks QI? It was unexpected and bizarre - Hodgman was squeezed into the set between 2 other contestants, and didn't even have a buzzer. He also struggled to be heard over four loudmouths who have made a living by talking loudly on panel quiz shows.

I only caught the beginning due to An Emergency, but yeah, I'm guessing it was a last minute thing? I could kind of tell it was gonna be light on Hodgman from the little I saw - they should've bumped Sean Lock.

A pox on thee! Sean Lock is great.

Although I agree that shoehorning Macs (who's this John you're all talking about?) into that episode was a bit weird and didn't work too well. But he still got some good lines in. "If I had to choose an animal to wipe my bum with, it'd be a goose" made me chuckle, not least because he said "bum".

If you didn't get to see it, coughcough.

Yeah, there were some good lines and I'm guessing he suffered in the edit. Unfortunately the new BBC1 Friendly QI seems to want to have a panel constantly giving Alan Davies-esque 'funny' answers. The early BBC4 series were more sedate.

Oh, it's pretty simple. He's condescending.

A pox on thee! Sean Lock is great.
I've been sour on him ever since an episode of... 9 out of 10 Cats or something? Vic Reeves (who is past his prime, sure) was on, and Lock kept being all haughty and dismissive of his semi-absurdist material, when... Lock does that stuff half the time! It was ugly, THUMBS DOWN.

And Hodgman said a goose would be the last thing he'd want near his bum, so SHOWS WHAT YOU KNOW! (Just kidding Samir, you're the best.)
