I just saw this on The AV Club:

"Say what you mean / Not everyone can know": The not-quite-decipherable Ted Leo

Anybody going to the Boston show next weekend? This time I will NOT be missing it!
He's this soulless bastard from Siberia. I once saw him shove Fred Savage's face in a toilet.

As if it needs to be said: The band is on non-literal FI-YAH.
Rocked the bells on Saturday.
Ted recognised me and came up and gave me a hug and I felt like King of the Underworld.
You guys have a lot to look forward to.

I saw them on Saturday in Boston. From beginning (with the Screaming Females and The Obits) to end (Rx covering "Since U Been Gone" with Marisa from Screaming Females on vocals) it was a top notch show.

I don't meant to resurrect an old thread but:

Anybody know what "The Truth is in the Garden" image means? It's on the lyrics sheet of my vinyl copy of the album and after having listened to the whole thing through while reading the lyrics, I'm sure it's not a lyric. Any ideas?

Also, awesome album.

NJ is the Garden State...? On the Tyranny of Distance lyric sheet there's a photo of two folks looking like they are clearing an area for a garden. So, to answer your question, I don't know.
I'm assuming that the red and black is anarchy flag...?

Just finally got a chance to hear the record day release The North Coast/The Oldest House. Both songs are like crack! Especially The Oldest House --can't stop listening! :o

Ted Leo And The Pharmacists cover Tears For Fears

The morning after the Chicago stop of their U.S tour in support of the excellent new The Brutalist Bricks, Ted Leo And The Pharmacists stopped by The A.V. Club to grace us with a cover of Tears For Fears' 1985 smash hit, "Everybody Wants To Rule The World." The bees in the background made their stage debut at the band's album-release show, and one of them was adopted by The A.V. Club.
Wasn't sure where to put this...!!!!

Did not see in another recent thread but Ted Leo is at this year's Siren festival along with Screaming Females.  Not sure what time anyone is playing.

I'm glad my friend got to hear this before he passed. Tears For Fears and Ted Leo were two of the many things we bonded over. I have a fond memory of me making him help me lug some of The Pharmacists' gear when they played Connecticut College a couple of years ago.

Hearts of Steele, are you from the Waterford/New London area?  I do some playwriting and teaching at the O'Neill, which is affiliated with Conn. College.  Beautiful and sketchy at the same time in that uniquely New England way, but I love it there.

I love TL/Rx lyrics, in part because they obviously mean something, and they have this great poetic cadence, but they can mean whatever you want them to.  For a little while I liked to pretend that "C.I.A." was being sung to Tom, like Tom did something that Ted can't forgive, but they're still friends.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.
