I love this show with all my heart and this new season is outstanding so far.

Is it Bert Jansch music that they keep playing? Anyway I love it. To me it's the only show that gives The Wire a run for it's money.

I liked the movie so I started watching the show and after three seasons of the show I went back to watch the movie and didn't even get through the whole thing.

The show is GREAT but you have to bear in mind that the second season is during the writer's strike, so there are some, uh, WEAK plotlines. Luckily, you can tell when the writers returned and brushed most of it aside.

From listening to Peter Berg talk about that one plotline that feels totally out of place, it didn't have anything to do with the strike and everything to do with a ratings grab.

Yeah, I love that show.  What was the out of place plotline?  The really handsome dude who played Gambit and the cougar neighbor?  It's been a while since I rented Season 2.

Well didn't the second season just end abruptly because of the strike? Like it was just assumed they didn't make it to state?

I'm just going to pretend like I didn't read this. It goes down alongside the "very special episode" of Different Strokes in my book as pure Wrong Idea.

And yes, the annoying little kid chasing around Tim Riggins --  when he came on screen we would yell out "Hey Tim, I'm going to go play out in the street!" or "Hey Tim, I'm going to take a bath with this toaster!" etc etc.

Senor and all other FNL fans I have a question.I've been rewatching all the episodes on netflix instant and last night was at the  episode with Jason Street's last scene with Erin and Tim. Now when it aired Sun Kil Moon's Gentle Moon was playing in the background which brought me to tears and made it a near perfect scene.
On the DVD the song is gone and the scene loses alot of momentum. Did anyone else notice this? They seemed to get all the songs for the DVDs. I wonder what Kozelek's deal was.

There are definitely other substitutions on the DVDs.  Purely financial reasons, I think, but a bummer.

Season 4 aired on Direct TV in the fall. I think this show is my confirmed favorite. It's up against The Wire and even though the Wire is nuts, Friday Night Lights just carries so much weight. I mean look at Seracen. It breaks my heart just to think of what he is going through. It's almost painful to watch. I think the best scene that captures this is when Coach Taylor pushes him in the bathtub and turns on the shower. Seracen says "You left me for TMU. Your daughter left me. Carlotta left me. My dad left me for Iraq, What's wrong with me?" and Coach says "There's nothing wrong with you son. The ain't a thing wrong with you." Coach Taylor is the master at holding his emotions in but just by looking at his eyes you know exactly when he realizes what's going on. Props to Kyle Chandler for that. Also upon second viewing I am developing a huge appreciation for Billy Riggins and how he wears his emotions on his sleeve. I'm touched by the scenes that clearly show how much he loves Tim.
Anyway, yeah season 4 is out of this world. I really love discussing this show so anyone please chime in.
And if you haven't I recommend rewatching it because this time there isno 'warming up' period. You already know which characters you love and you can see how indepth their development is.

A Jay Reatard song was on tonights episode!  That was pretty cool.  And a fantastic episode, as usual.  Great, great program.
