Ted Leo vs MC Steinberg

First episode I ever listened to. Came for the Ted Leo, stayed for the Marky Ramone call.

Roy Jr. convincing PBR that they had switched bodies ala Freaky Friday. That killed me.
"Dad gets mad."

Good one, especially with the judging panel of PBR, Timmy von Trimble, Marky, and Petey (until he was dismissed).

"The voice was kinda gratin'." -- Marky, celebrating Petey's exit.
"Let's have a device-a-thon, just you and me." -- Montgomery Davies

The Mr. T guy, along with Kid Kansas, are much missed mid-show pranksters.  Mr T Guy had the most unerring ability to call at Tom's low points.

How did the screener let him through all those times, though?  He could only say six things, and "Shut up, foo" is quite distinctive in its Tureadity.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

First time I heard Tom do his Chubby Checker imitation I nearly drove off the road I was laughing so hard.

Yeah, I think a lot of the Lost Boys grew up and went away to college or whatever. I always love the shows where the one note wise guys would all dog-pile on the show and vex Tom with their silly crap.

I heard Mr T plenty, but Kid Kansas I'm not familiar with ... whereabouts in the archive is this guy?

Petey's birthday party (2003-01-07) was wonderful. So so sweet.

Calls from Mr. T

Aw! I miss Mr T.

From 2009, thinking about the whole "FOT suicide?" board debacle still makes me laugh sometimes.
I'm warning you with peace and love.

Of the decade:

-James getting James'd
-The Order of Everything
-Gerard Depardieu's autograph on a Baltimore Colts helmet
-Truck Nutz (because that is the first time I remember Tom truly losing it on the air)
-The Smirnoff Ice call

Of the year:
-Piranha 3-D discussion
-"The husband from Maude is right!"
-Every one of Fredericks' calls
"I'm riding the silence like John Cage up in this piece." -Tom Scharpling

Start here: http://www.friendsoftom.com/forum/index.php/topic,5245.0.html

Also search the whole forum for mentions.  He calls in and keeps singing "Carry on My Wayward Son."  He's also the prankster behind "Indie Payola."

I remember this one, does anyone have a date so that I may listen again?
Thanks!

Jan 17, 2006. I love this exchange:

Tom: "You know, we're gonna have a panel of celebrity judges."
MC Steinberg: "Kinda weird, 'cause I'm a celebrity."
Tom: "Well, I think we have two celebrities here."
MCS: "Well, he's an indie celebrity."
"You want me to recognize you and I won't. I won't acknowledge you! I deny you. So you keep begging and begging. The door is slammed on you. I want nothing to do with you. You will die unrecognized by me."
-Tom Scharpling
