Leno at 10 Cancelled....
« on: January 10, 2010, 04:57:21 PM »
Tom called this months ago...

NBC made a "terrible mistake" moving Leno to prime time, analyst says.
It's unlikely that NBC will lay down any final edicts about the fate of "The Jay Leno Show" before the start of the Television Critics Association's press tour on Sunday, but one thing is certain: NBC only made a bad situation worse by moving the late-night host to prime time instead of investing in scripted shows.

They've made a huge mistake.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

And now they've REALLY made a huge mistake :(  ... Leno should just retire gracefully and go about his stand-up and car-tinkering.

But he won't.

... and now Seinfeld weighs in (also please take note of the description of his new project "The Marriage Ref") on this whole thing.

Because this whole time, I was really wondering what Jerry would make of all this.

Seinfeld -- "But there's no rules in show business, there's no refs."  There are rules; they are called contracts. And I hope Conan has enough of a case under his to get a huge buyout from NBC on his way to a more suitable cable channel.  I almost feel like boycotting NBC's Olympics coverage because of this, but who am I kidding. I will be glued to the TV - I have to see if the US Curling team can make another unlikely medal run. No kidding.

Ha, very true RE contracts. I too hope that Conan can reap the maximum from this debacle. I realize that the Tonight Show is still sort of the Everest of shows and all that, but the landscape has changed so much that I was somewhat surprised that Conan took this gig in the first place. It can be seen as a step backwards.

"The head of NBC's parent company, General Electric's Jeffrey Immelt, told investors recently that he expected NBC would lose "a couple hundred million bucks" on the games."
