SNL, meet Zach Galifianakis
« on: March 01, 2010, 01:33:28 PM »
Zach to host on March 6th! I'm super excited! My super secret fantasy comedy boyfriend is going to be on TV just for meeeeeeee.

But yeah, this should be fun. I hope! Everything he does is funny to me... even though I'm not a huge SNL fan these days.

I'm excited, but I'm also afraid that it's going to be a huge disappointment.

I would be more excited if I hadn't seen last week's SNL with Jennifer Lopez, which was so bad I hated myself for being alive.

They're usually that bad, yes. I do realize this.

I'd rather see Will Oldham pull off host/music double duty but this should be interesting too.

I'm really curious and a little afraid to see how this goes.

I feel like his humor wouldn't work wonderfully within the concept of SNL. I mean, squeezing him into a Gilly sketch just seems weird.

Maybe he can just slap Gilly in the mouth and we'll be done with that.

Just have faith that whether the show is good or bad, Zach will be awesome.

this would be the best use of NBC late night programming in months.

(besides poker after dark, natch).

I think he is invited more as the superstar from The Handover and less for his indie comic status.

I wonder if it's a coincidence that Scott Aukerman (who co-writes/directs Between Two Ferns with Zach) happens to be in New York this week (which he almost never is). I know SNL doesn't work like that what with their writing staff and all, but it still got me thinking.

I don't know, I think sometimes people will being in guest writers/collaborators. I know that Scott was the head writer for whatever MTV awards Samberg hosted, so there's definitely possibility for some great digital shorts.

I watched the recent Jon Hamm episode and it was pretty funny. The following week I watched the Ashton Kutcher episode which was horrid with the exception of one sketch. I think the host is a large factor in how funny it will be.
You look like a really healthy Arthy Lang.
