re a friend of mine:

Quote

Unrest at Maxwell's in Hoboken was among the top three best shows I've ever seen (which begs for a list, I'm realizing). They are the rare exception of a band who actually sounds better live than on record.

A little advice - bring cash because they have the best merch table you'll ever see, and everything costs about half of what it is through Teenbeat directly. Buy before the band plays. Afterward everyone's mind is blown by the concert, and they swarm for souvenirs.

I'm going! Purchase those tickets, why don't you?

Afterward, we'll pop over to the Dischord House. I heard tell there's a backlog of lyrics sheets to fold and stuff for the new split Nation of Egg Hunt/Marginal Manager 7 inch, and MacKaye put out the batsignal.

I effed up my eye and am most likely out.  If this is the case, yesno has an extra ticket for someone.  :(

I'm still in for Mulaney if Barry won't butch up and go get an eye patch.

I'm moving to Silver Spring tomorrow so the Drafthouse is likely out for me. That's also partly why I can't put anybody up (that, plus my houseguests don't seem to like it when I get up and tickle them at night)

Please wear an eyepatch.

I wanted an eyepatch  but they said the warmth and moisture is bad for the ulcers.  However if it worsens and I need surgery then I WILL get an eyepatch.  So fingers crossed.

But yes, I'll suck it up and go to these events, so steel yourself - I look kinda scary and am well-medicated.

Many thanks to yesno for securing me a ticket AND putting up WKghost/Icepants.

Ok, do people want to meet at 7 or so at Founding Farmers?  Or more like 8?  The show "starts" at 9, which means opening acts, who are all probably pretty good.  Also early = better access to merch table.

Did you guys get that email that said:

The doors/start time for the The Unrest show at Black Cat on July 10, 2010 for which you have purchased tickets has been changed from 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please be aware of this change and thank you for continuing to be a loyal customer.

Makes sense ... how many bands are playing? 4 or 5?

In the absence of hearing from anyone, I am suggesting we meet at Founding Farmer's at 7.  Since we all have tickets, showing up at exactly 8 for a concert could probably lead to a lot of standing around, and at the same time even showing up at 9 or 10 would probably still count as "early."

At least, my wife Susie and I (in person I respond better to "John" than "yesno") will be there then.  I believe I know what Auntie Christina and Chris L look like through Internet osmosis.  Maybe I will be wearing a GG Allin or WFMU-related T Shirt.

I will text the out-of-town FOTs will this information, as they may not be checking this thread.

Kudos to all for a rocking good time. Un-kudos to me for not getting a reservation at FF.

We never voted on which band is the top Unrest.
