Episodes lost to history
« on: August 04, 2010, 07:42:57 PM »
Hi all. Over the past few months, I've been steadily making my way through the archives from the beginning. I've heard from 2007-present and from the beginning to roughly April '02 so far. I understand a few old episodes getting cut out of the archives here and there, but when I came across:

"April 2, 2002: An Interview With Barry Dworkin, The 4-11 Handlebar Mustachioed Leader Of 'The Gas Station Dogs', Who Sings The Worst Song In The History Of Music. Also, Tom Sets Up His Fight With Eight Male Teenagers, And The First Installment of 'Smash Or Trash'. "

...only to find it was not available to stream, well, I darn near lost my dinner. (My most recent meal at the time.) This is perhaps my favorite S&W bit of all time.

I know of certain Pledge schwag and other lost episodes being posted to rapidshare, etc. here and there. Can my fellow FOTs hook a brother up with either this episode or some other good stuff that has been deleted from the Internet? Thank you in advance for your help.

I know 'The Gas Station Dogs' bit is available on the New Hope For The Ape-Eared CD.  You can order the CD at http://www.stereolaffs.com/ape_eared.php. Other than that I don't know about those missing shows.

To clarify, I have heard the edited version of it on "New Hope For the Ape Eared." In the course of replaying it for friends, many many times. But I've become something of a super-fan over the past few months, and I enjoy hearing the bits in their original unedited form. Also as a budding Best Show completist, I just want to hear everything I can. (Everything legally available for purchase I have purchased, either through iTunes or a couple of CDs sent to me personally by Jon Wurster!! I ain't no freeloader. I support the arts I love!)

For example, I was easily able to find a copy of the since-deleted interview with Dick Halligan Jr., even though it was removed from the archives at the behest of David Clayton Thomas. What I am looking for are similar Best Show bootlegs, and any Best Show pledge-schwag would be much obliged as well. I pledged $125 to this year's marathon, so that's gotta earn me a little bit of back-catalogue stuff, eh? Eh? "A Vampire or a Dogman"..."At the Speed of Sound"...anyone want to hook a fellow Best Show devotee up? Remember, file-sharing is caring!

The 4/2/02 show was included (minus the Dworkin call and the music) on Best Show Uncovered Vol. 1 CD (the mp3 disc that was the premium for the 2009 emergency marathon), so it's floating around out there.

The Merge discussion (this is what you mean by A Vampire or a Dogman, right?) can be had for free here: http://www.scharplingandwurster.com/?p=194
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

What about 01/09/2014. The first episode with the Gorch?
