Moonrise Kingdom!

“Ed Norton, Frances McDormand and Jason Schwartzman will join the already stellar cast of Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton and Bill Murray“

I like all of his movies just fine, but I kind of hope he rolls back the visual style for this one. It's getting kind of claustrophobic.

Is it like being trapped in a room with nine animals?

Being trapped with nine animals, being trapped in a closet of suits, you get the idea.

I wish you people would be more clear about if you are or aren't excited for whatever movie you are posting about.

Wow, Atwater is kind of fascinating. There needs to be a good biopic about him.

Can you imagine this guy in the Obama era?

With all of Atwater's children running around, it's not really that hard to imagine.

His story is captivating. It's hard to believe his illness and physical transformation isn't the product of a screenwriter trying too hard to fit someone's life into a neat three-act structure.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

He was kind of a dead ringer for Daniel Johnston by the end of it.

Yes.  There are plenty of aspiring Republican power-brokers out there who are more shameless in their amorality and willingness to race-bait than Atwater could have dreamt of (Andrew Breitbart, anyone?).  So far, none of them have come as close to the levers of real political power as Atwater did, but just wait until 2012.

Rove was absolutely shameless about gay-baiting, but Atwater-style race-baiting? Nothing's coming to mind, but I'm happy to have my memory refreshed.

You should ask John McCain's illegitimate black child.

I don't think Rove used race-baiting when running Bush's campaign. What I meant was that Rove unquestionably uses the skill set that Atwater brought to the table for the first time. Yeah, they used a different group as a springboard for fear and hate, but it's the same technique.
