Places to Stay in Pittsburgh
« on: January 26, 2011, 09:03:32 PM »
Hi everyone;

Since asking here for recommendations on a place to stay in Toronto worked amazingly well, I wanted to ask where people would recommend staying while in Pittsburgh.  I'm traveling there for the Yo La Tengo show in early February, and am looking for a nice, inexpensive hotel in the city to spend the night.  Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

There are a number of hotels in Downtown Pittsburgh (i.e. Westin, Fairmont, Wyndham, Renaissance, Omni William Penn). Unfortunately, none of them are particularly cheap.

If you're seeking inexpensive lodging, I'd recommend staying in Oakland, where the University of Pittsburgh is located. It's only a few miles from the concert venue in Millvale. There are some reasonably priced hotels in the vicinity (Hampton Inn & Quality Inn). Plus, there are better dining options in Oakland.

Hope this helps.
