from Omar's fourteen-paragraph recap of Matthew Tompkins's second call:

In addition to Cavemen, Tompkins is working on a pilot called Family Splatters with extreme filmmaker Trent L. Strauss. He wants Tom to keep this news under his hat. Tompkins says Strauss has invented a new genre called the "splatcom". Tom correctly assumes that it's a sitcom combined with some horror elements. Family Splatters is about the Slaughters, a normal, working-class family in San Francisco that struggles with the constant urge to commit murders. Tompkins claims it's a heartwarming show. He says there's been a snag because TLS sent them his cut, and it appears he just spliced in some footage from Dr. Sleaze, The Kidney Thieves, It Eats, and Face Peelers 3 with footage he shot on a soundstage in only one day. Tompkins says that TLS was paid $530,000 to shoot the pilot, so Tom can see how the network wouldn't be happy that he mainly used pre-existing material from his ouevre.

Oh, also added Boyd R. Strauss, who shot a bunch of erotic films in the 70s, currently re-released under the Criterion Erotic imprint.

Unfortunately, we don't know if Boyd is a brother, son, ste-puncle, whatever.

I haven't listened to the call yet; was there any hint as to which side she hails from? I know that Ron Scharpling has a daughter who I don't think was named.

Re: The Larsons, last week The Gorch mentioned being married to Madeleine Larson, who was being played by Loni Anderson in the biopic.  Madeleine = Sheila's grandmother?

Okay, added Madeleine. I'm still a few shows behind, though, and haven't heard the call myself. Hoping to catch up by D-Day.

Added Tom's adoption to The Scharpling Tree, also added The Tompkinses, which includes Matthew and Chet, who Roger Scharpling briefly mentions as a Shout Network exec in the late-70s. I guess covering TV shows is a family business for the Tompkinses.

Also, JW mentions Rhonda Larson as Sheila's Mom, which we already had on the tree. So that's awesome. I hope that means this massive thread is one of the resources they use for that sort of minutiae.

Finally, I added the family of dear, departed Kevin "GG" Allin. Merle Sr and Arleta were Tom's birth parents and they deserve a hallowed place on the Unofficial Thread of Newbridge Family Trees.

More importantly, I realized a very fun (perhaps alarming) kink in one of the tree's many twisted boughs: Tom is the half-uncle to Corey Harris and Shelia Larson's kid, Skystalker! Further, Tom and Corey were briefly brothers-in-law!

Worth the wait, I think, as he shares the name with the turtle-like sheriff of Tom's favorite cable television drama ever, Sons of Anarchy.

Anyway, I think I got everything up from the final shows now. Of course, as a whole, I'd say the Newbridge tree is only 65% filled out. There are still tons of little pieces from older shows that will surely crop up as I begin my big re-listen.

I thought it'd be neat to create a thread that tried to shed some light on the various family trees of our favorite fake town. Obviously, much of this was covered in the defunct FOTpedia, but it could be fun to re-create it in thread form and make it up-to-date going forward.

Bort identified as Reggie's brother in 2/17 Ty Monroe call.

Ty Monroe, the youngest of Reggie's brothers. Claims that he essentially raised himself after parents gave up after blowing it with all previous brothers. Unaware of vegetables until 2012; candy and Fonta soda diet caused withered legs. Left Newbridge at age 18; claims to be jailed for a mucho-rail-aided, flagrant fistfight with a guided tour group in Florida. May have made up some or all of everything he said on the air.

Omar, I'm torn on whether Ty Monroe is Monroe canon or not. You have contact with Tom-Jon...At what point in the call do you think Ty became an "unreliable narrator"?

A disclaimer regarding veracity issues must be noted when discussing T. Monroe, but in my opinion the basic information that he is a member of the Monroe clan is legit.
