Marathon premium picks
« on: February 20, 2011, 03:11:04 PM »
I think there was a thread like this last year, but I'm curious - for people pledging to the upcoming marathon, what DJ premiums are you planning on getting, besides Tom's?  In previous years I've gone with Terre T and Evan Funk Davies' mix cds, but I'm kind of indecisive this year - the girl group cd from Gaylord Fields is tempting, and so is the mix from Downtown Soulville.

I've never listened to his show, but the Scott Williams one sounds interesting.
The Sinner's Crossroads discs are usually great.
Rex and Debbie D's are usually good if you're into that sort of thing (raunchy 50s r&b/early rock & roll)
I'll probably go for Joe McGasko's, too.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Do people split up their pledges amongst various shows?  I want to increase my chances of winning an additional prize from a drawing/raffle and spread the financial appreciation amongst all the shows I like.
Sounds like someone was working as a conduit for nature's natural vengeance.  Just like Jesus.  And some of the others.

A lot of people do the prize account option so they can enter into as many drawings as possible.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Monica had one of my favorite premiums last year, a 2-disc collection of male vocalists called BRIDGE OF SIGHS. Wonderful rainy-day music, all jazzy and folky and smoky. The (great) title of this year's premium: THIS TIME THE DREAM'S ON ME. I'd recommend that one.

Bill Kelly is a no-brainer for me every year. Great 60s rock obscurities.

I'm always a fan of the thematic premiums. Liz Berg is good at these and Therese's looks pretty fun too.

The station's great new old-school C&W show, Toothpick Rhythm, is putting out it's first premium this year.

I find a good rule of thumb for premiums is, if you don't know what you want, go with whatever gets you the most. 2-disc sets, MP3/DVD discs, etc. Also, you can never go wrong with a T-shirt. Never.
It ain't ego, it's my love for you.

I wish there were a "Depravity's Rainbow" premium...
