One of these shows will be my first show EVER (other than stuff like the Carolina Opry that my parents dragged me to when I was a kid) and they will both be in Carrboro, NC in the month of April.

I can't decide. Which do you think, FOT board?

UPDATE: Ted Leo is playing in may in the Triangle, as well! I can only see one because that's a long drive!

First show ever? How old are you? I think J Mascis sounds awesome solo and Kurt Vile is great. I think Aimee is great too and would love to see her but I think this has to be looked at as "see 2 greats or see just one great."

Okay, first Aimee Mann is quality, but very famous, so seeing her seems to cost about 60 bucks including ticketing fees, (not sure about the actual cost in your neighborhood.)
If you see the Kurt Vile show, it costs 10 dollars if you buy your ticket in advance, and then you could also see Superchunk (14.) and the Mountain Goats (17.) or the Blacks Lips (12.)  All are well respected, great bands.  I think you should check out more live bands and go to more shows for your money. You are only young once, so have fun!!!

What do you guys think of Ted Leo's solo shows? He's going to be in Chapel Hill in May.

I think I'll go to that so I can have more time to save up money. These are all my absolute favorites; I wish I could go to all of them.

That is one epic week of shows at the Cat's Cradle.  I'm trying to decide between the Black Lips/Vivian Girls or Destroyer/War On Drugs show.  J. Mascis/Kurt Vile would be the winner, but family coming to town that night.

I've never seen Black Lips either and they're coming to Columbus soon but I'm unsure whether I'll go. Do they still do gross stuff onstage? I've heard stories about them drinking their own pee onstage and stuff like that, which I have no desire to see.

The Mountain Goats are coming to the Cat's Cradle on April 8.  There's your show.


I'm probably going to be out of town or I'd be there.  If I'm in town for Ted Leo I may be there.  If only I didn't hate live music shows and doing anything, this would be so much easier.

In this 2 team race, Ms Mann wins and J Mascis + Kurt Vile come in 7th or 8th at best.
