Going to see SWANS in Nashville this September. Am super excited about it since I've never seen them and thought I'd never get the chance.

I saw Austerity Program last week.  They rocked.

I love this band. Wish they could make it down south sometime.

I saw them in the fall and it was even better than I had hoped. Gira's crowd interactions are always great.

I noticed there's a lot of Philadelphia concert talk on this thread.  Here's a not entirely comprehensive list of some shows I've seen recently:

Damon & Naomi @ the Unitarian Church side chapel (not as good as I thought it would be)
Earth @ Johnny Brenda's (WAY better than I thought it would be)
Crooked Fingers @ KFN (last night!)

I'm also planning on seeing Bill Callahan, Gang Gang Dance, The Psychic Paramount, Mountain Man, War on Drugs and probably some others later this summer.  I'm out of town for the Archers of Loaf reunion, which is sad, but I saw their Jimmy Fallon performance on youtube and, while good, it didn't make me regret even more not being able to see them.

Sure! They're playing at Mercy Lounge.

I'm pretty sure I saw Low there years ago and remember it being a nice venue.

Has anyone seen Thurston Moore solo? I am going to his show in August mainly because I've been itching to see Meg Baird live. Is he good solo, I've been into his solo albums but haven't heard the new one. I hear Beck produced it.

Had tickets to see him once at Johnny Brenda's (when he was touring to support "Trees Outside the Academy") but got there too late and didn't feel like pushing through the crowd so the wife and I left. Couldn't hear very well from where we were standing anyway but Thurston was wearing a GZA t-shirt - so that made it sort of worth it I guess. Saw him again about a year later opening for Roky Erickson in New York and I thought he was as good as any Sonic Youth show I've ever seen. Great show.

I saw Bill Callahan for free at AKA two years ago I would go to this but family is visiting that weekend. I'm debating seeing MY Morning Jacket at The Mann. Neko Case is opening!

I think the Mann is a decent place to see a show.  The first show I saw there was Pavement last Fall.  The sound for Kurt Vile's opening set was awful, but Pavement sounded great.  Personally, I find My Morning Jacket really annoying.  But Neko Case is amazing.  We should all do whatever it takes to see her as many times as possible.

I saw GBV at the Cannery back in January. We had a few drinks at the Mercy Lounge. Its a pretty cool place.

Saw Fucked Up/JEFF the Brotherhood tonight. It was a great show. NO WEAK PITS. Damian is the nicest guy, giving out hugs to everyone.

keyloser - I was at that GBV show as well. I seem to remember they had a list of drink specials named after GBV songs. I think I had the Official Ironmen Rally Screwdriver or something.

I saw Fucked Up in St. Louis Friday night. It was one of those joyous, life-affirming rock shows you're lucky to see every five years or so. They were really spectacular, and I will never fail to be impressed by how Damian can make those crushed cups stick to his head.

Saw about half of R. Stevie Moore last night. The stuff he played with the band was really great and got everybody excited, but then the band left after about four songs and Stevie played a rambling, uncomfortable solo set that succeeded only in clearing out the room. The band ended up coming back, but I was still tired from driving home from St. Louis the night before, so I left.

And thaaaat's the story of concerts!
It ain't ego, it's my love for you.

Bought tickets to Gillian Welch and debating getting Fountains of Wayne tickets. Anyone seen them? I like the albums alright.

If you are in L.A., you probably already know about this. If not...
