And Jack, you'll be horrified to learn that "Jawaiian" has not only NOT been "extinguished", but is as popular as ever. In fact, the ad agency I just finished a big wireless TV campaign for used insipid Jawaiian music as the signature soundtrack for the commercials.
I find it sadly ironic how much I hate "local" Hawaiian music, and yet when Shellac played a show about a block away from where I worked a few years ago, I blew it off in favor of taking a much needed nap at home.
