I just watched Special When Lit last night.  As orangewhip said there isn't much of a narrative, but it's nice to look at and there are a number of poignant moments. 

Gave me the itch to get back to the Silver Ball Museum stat.

I, too, just finished Special When Lit. I agree with everyone above that the lack of narrative really makes it feel scattershot and not very coherent. I would have preferred a more in depth look at pinball creation and why the hell it was banned.

Between that and the Rock-A Fire Explosion doc, I've found that I am really fascinated by people with singular obsessions about super niche things. I admire them for their dedication and their pure love for something. I feel sad because it seems to come to control these people.

just watched cutters way. its a weird film thats pretty cool becuz of its awesome ending and wa wa wa. reminded me of miami blues (must see) and under the volcano kinda not really butt a better movie in instant watch has to be 'the grifters'- the ending of this film is so fucking good fuck fuck man super awesome scoresese produced film - he does the opening narration too but the end man the end is such payoff.; for real the grifters watch

I agree re: the fascination w/ singular obsessions. It's probably b/c I feel stretched pretty thin over many different things, and to be so consumed in something you only wanted to (and only did) work on that sounds strangely appealing. Of course it has some pretty severe downsides. I will check out these films.

Search harder! Saxondale is available. It's probably my favorite Steve Coogan TV show.

I can't recommend Saxondale enough. It's a good one.

Thirded. I just started this one last week. I wish they'd have 'I'm Alan Partridge' on there, though.

wow, coming back to the board for the first time in awhile is definitely helping me to understand the mit hamine hate....

Watched Pontypool the other night. I definitely enjoyed it, although it's more of a suspense thing than a horror thing. It reminds me a lot of a Warren Ellis story adapted into a Warren Oates movie.

There's also this series called Nightmare Next Door or something that's just about the most insane thing I've ever seen. Imagine Unsolved Mysteries being made by the producers of Ancient Aliens and you've got a rough idea...

oh, and that Herzog movie about the caves is in now...

Been looking forward to Cave Of Forgotten Dreams forever.  Was in Missouri when it played here in L.A. When I got back it was gone. So I watched it last night and was completely underwhelmed.

I love when I am in a record store and I come across a sealed copy of a record from the 60s then I come home and open it and the cover is still glossy, the paper is white and unworn and the vinyl is in pristine condition. Cave of Forgotten Dreams takes this fascination to the extreme.
