So, we're at the point now with Jon, where we can say he's on that weird anti-aging drug all rockers seem to do, right? Full head of hair? Slim? Wrinkle-free? How do (most) musicians do it?
If I tried, I could probably make at least six figures for shaking my moneymaker.

I had no idea Jon was a stutterer. I find that to be kind of inspiring.

It's a great writeup.  Somehow, it popped up in the "Paul F Tompkins" section of my google news page.

I don't even recall making a Paul F Tompkins section.

As a relatively new listener (only 4 years or so) I really appreciate these "background story" stories.  The AVClub interview was good too.

I didn't even know they still made Spin. I am getting 90s retro really bad now.

Tom will probably take this the wrong way, but isn't he looking pretty svelte nowadays?

Same here, listening to his calls on the show, I have trouble believing it! He is very composed on the radio, and has such a  natural, conversational flow.

Having read this article, and having listened to a number of podcasts wherein "the origin story" is recounted, I'm really curious about the pre-Best Show Scharpling doings, too. Does anyone have any tapes or mp3s or other audio files of Tom's old show(s), whatever its name was? Besides 'Rock Rot & Rule," that is. (Of course, if Tom wants to let that stuff go unheard, that's cool too.  I'll respect his wishes. Just curious.)

I was suprised too, but now listening to it you can kind of hear it in spots. Then again if I was on the radio I would be completely bumbling over every other word.

My ladyfriend made some sort of cat-like sound when she saw the photos. Please note I'd probably drop a cool $50 for that Flyers t-shirt.

This is my experience, as well.  It's a remarkable thing for a self-described "lifelong stutterer" to become known for his smooth delivery and total recall during 45 minute weekly radio calls.

Tom is looking rather chiseled.

I think you have to get the Eagles hat with the Flyers shirt (which is awesome).  The marriage of the green and the orange are what makes the ensemble such a visual treat. I expect to see more Philadelphians copy this look.
