I could adjust the scoring settings to have average-based stats included, and then we could possibly do a re-draft, if a majority of the managers agree to it.

Personally, I don't believe it would be worth the hassle. However, I'm not necessarily opposed to it.

I am good the way we are, but in future years would be grateful to know about changes to categories and/or rules prior to developing my draft lists, which I put quite a bit of work into. Also, I got my buddy Jeff to even us up at the last minute, and he drafted with the understanding that the stats would be the same as the previous year's. I am sure both he and I would have significantly different teams had we known what the categories were.

And sorry about the obnoxious.

I can't find any message either here or on the yahoo board announcing that the categories had been changed. What gives? I put like 30 hours into writing a draft program using the categories that were listed for the league on the day that I joined. Now I have optimized my team for categories that we don't count. I mean, I don't mind using different categories from last year, but where was the announcement? Can we redraft? (that's just a joke, mostly, but i am not thrilled)

Every settings adjustment is listed in the "updates" portion of the the league front page. I've never been in this league and made sure to keep track of the categories being adjusted leading up the draft and adjusted my draft strategy accordingly. I also noted the transaction limits while making a point of looking at the league settings. I would recommend taking a portion of the 30 hours devoted to creating a draft program and put it towards reviewing the league rules beforehand.

Consider this a vote against a redraft and my first salvo as unofficial league villain.

I knew about it, but forgot about it to update my rankings. However, the settings didn't really change the dynamics of the league all that much. I used a tool that ranks based on league settings, and the rankings didn't change all that much because for hitters, we were going with OPS which favors low average players. The pitching categories still favor pitchers who put up good ERA and WHIP without actually counting those categories. The middle of the road pitchers were still ranked about the same- Both settings reward pitchers that go deep into games over guys who rack up K's but give a lot of free passes. I had Mark Reynolds as the 18th best player available with the old categories, and I think he was like 16th with the new categories. I don't think a redraft is necessary.

Jesus, I don't know you, but kiss my ass. I got an invitation to play in the same league I was in last year, and the first thing I did was check the scoring categories, which were the same as last year. Asshole.

I was teasing more than anything, but the fact of the matter is all the information was there for you to review. I'm trying to say that maybe you put the cart before the horse, but I apologize for getting too personal.

Part of my draft strategy involved the fact the categories were unconventional, changed frequently leading up to the draft, and possibly unconsidered by some owners. In fact, I refrained from drawing attention to the categories during the draft so as not to lose that advantage. Cutthroat maybe, but within the rules.

I'm used to playing leagues that are wildly competitive and rife with merciless teasing, and I should have known this league doesn't play that way. I'll keep it off the FOT board from now on.

Remember that this is just a fun league that half of the participants will forget about come July.  ;D

Calm down folks.

As I noted in the beginning, this is intended to be a casual, FRIENDLY fantasy baseball league. Obviously, some participants are more competitive than others, but ultimately, it's just a fantasy league with little or nothing at stake. There's no need to be exchanging insults with one another. And if you want to direct your invective at anyone, direct it at me. I'm the commissioner. I take full responsibility for any screw-ups that may happen to occur.

Although, in my defense, I did make it a point to actively solicit suggestions on possible scoring settings prior to the draft.

Anyway, for those of you who are dissatisfied, I would like to extend my apologies.

OK, my last word.

You DID solicit suggestions. My suggestion was to leave things alone. It's fine that you didn't take my suggestion, and it's your league to change as you see fit, but I was placed in a difficult position when I got on the phone and started begging guys to get in the league so that we could play, but misrepresented the categories because they had been changed without notification.

Thanks

dave

Getting rid of Melky Cabrera may have been the dumbest thing I've ever done.
