Where to go, what to do? Here's what I've got so far:

Kennedy School
Native Bowl
DC Vegetarian
Homegrown Smoker
Broder
Powell's, Pearl District

I've got a baby so no going out at night.

Hope you get this in time. Definitely check out:

Mississippi Street
Alberta Street (close to Kennedy School, which you mentioned. Sidenote: Kennedy School is fantastic to check out & walk around, but do yourself a favor and eat elsewhere.)
Music Millennium (33rd & E. Burnside) if you want to browse music
811 E. Burnside shops: Lots of small, indie boutiques & shops, across from the Doug Fir hotel/restaurant/club (where Tom and countless other guests have been unable to sleep at night, due to noise from club)
Locals can be kind of blase about it, but SE Hawthorne Ave. is still fun to walk around

That's all I can think of on two cups of coffee, but I'm sure you'll find plenty to do. Have fun!

Thanks! You're right about McMenamin's food.  We're actually staying at the Kennedy School and have a baby so the connivence won out (Cypress Room). I actually like the communication breakdown (veggie) burger but yeah they should make more of an effort with the food.

Me and the ladyfriend love Native Bowl but had never explored  the neighborhood. We checked out Mississippi today. Looks like everything is brand new! We're doing Hawthorne tomorrow morning. E. Burnside I didn't know about. We'll swing by.

BTW, what's with all the people dressing like Ted Leo? You don't see that in Seattle.
