is anyone planning to go see axl and the new guns in vegas?
« on: September 26, 2012, 09:48:58 PM »
in case you haven't heard, axl and the new guns are doing a month long residency in vegas, from the end of oct. and through most of november.  i wasn't going to go because i've already seen ever version of new guns multiple times now and i'm fucking broke as shit.  but i was surprised at how many of my friends are down to go, mainly because it is going to be in vegas.  i really think this is the perfect thing for axl.  i think these vegas shows are going to kick ass, and now that i know some of my friends are going to go i am even more excited.  anyone else want to go?  maybe do a FOT meet up or something?

He's baaaaaaack ...

Where U been, Raad_Man? Question for you: what is Axl's track record for starting shows (more or less) on time? Has he gotten any better with that stuff? Are there any statisticians tracking the ratio of the advertised starting time of a G n'R show versus what actually happens?

P.S. Is Tommy Stinson still in the Guns? I think he may be one of the longest-lasting members. After enduring his brother Bob in the Replacements, I'd imagine Tommy Stinson could put up with just about anything.

P.P.S. So this is like a "residency" in Vegas? I'd rather get my info about this from the FOT board, as opposed to searching this shit out on my own.

i've been hanging out and doing stuff.  i got a band, which is fucking awesome.  i played a show of nothing but power ballads.  and i'm working on a movie called 'killer tits' about breast implants that make this girl kill people.  its pretty much the best idea i ever had for getting as much nudity and murder into a movie at once.  whenever i get the script just right maybe i sell it to the big guys.

yeah man, tommy 'the general' stinson is still on bass.  i think he may have been the bass player longer than duff now.  he wrote one song on chinese democrayc, riad and the bedouins.  but they don't play it live anymore now, presumably because it is too hard for axl to sing now.  i saw tommy at a bar once.  he was wasted and making out with a hot chick.  the bartender said he does that all the time.

yeah, man.. it's like a vegas residency.  which i know a lot of people would make fun of because it clearly means axl is entering the fat elvis phase of his career.  but you know what?  i say good for axl.  he spent 15 years working on that shitturd of an album chinese democracy.  he wanted so hard to show up slash and prove everybody wrong.  he thought it was going to be the shit, but it sucked.  but you know what?  fuck it.  fuck all that pressure.  fuck the press and everybody giving him shit.  if he wants to take it easy and do a vegas act, fuck the world good for axl he should do it.  he made some awesome music and has earned the right to have a fat elvis semi retirement phase.  we should all be so lucky.  i am actually more excited about a vegas residency then the whole goddamned chinese democracy thing.

The series of Las Vegas shows will be called "Appetite for Democracy."

Seems cool!

i just heard they're gonna cancel half the shows because they aren't selling so good.  apparently shit is so bad that axl is actually agreeing to do some publicity.  heh is going to  be on jimmy kimmel on oct 24th.  live.  this will be my moon landing.

Vegas really needs to step up their game. I'm going in December and the only name acts I see playing are Megadeth and Andrew Dice Clay.

I think I'd prefer to see the original band tour with Miles Kennedy (playing only G+R songs) than Axl play with a bunch of random people. I thought Kennedy did a pretty good job at the R+R Hall of Fame show. Adler, Duff and Slash looked like they were having the time of their life, especially Adler. I'd pay to see that band play.

Axl should just stop being a bitch and reunite with the original Guns. Maybe the failure of this Vegas thing will make him realize that. Probably not, though.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't think that will ever happen. I don't think there's one person in the band that's taken the high road, they all still act like arrogant rock stars and Axl is still crazy. It was a fun ride for the short time it lasted and it's kind of amazing the original lineup is still alive, but there's no way that band is getting back together.

Agree 100%.  I wish he were less insane because then I could say "well, here at last is a rock star that won't do *anything* for a huge pile of money."

Not that I begrudge anybody a living. Uh, never mind.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Axl seems desperate for some sort of relevancy, though. I think at some point he's going to give in.
