Boston-Area Final Show Listening Party
« on: November 12, 2013, 10:55:30 AM »
Hi All,

I'd like to organize a final show listening party for Boston-area FOTs. Let me know if you are interested and have any thoughts as to good local venues (particularly if you have personal connections to a place).

Thanks,
David in Boston

I don't really have location connections but would love to attend something like this and am happy to help any other way I can.

Trying to lock down Toad in Porter Square for the listening party. Think it would be a good fit. If anyone has any connections to the venue (and/or has another place in mind), let me know.

Thanks!
David

Hey! I'm definitely interested in a listening party and my roommate / brother is too. Might be a good idea to see if Boston-area people on Twitter might be interested.

Also, a friend of mine told me that folks at one of the college radio stations in town expressed interest in hosting a listening party, but I'll follow up with her and see if there are any updates on that end.

Hi All,

GOOD NEWS: We've booked a place!

The Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain (http://www.midwaycafe.com/), has agreed to host our Final Show Listening Party.

Tell your friends! and be in touch if you'd like to be in involved with the planning of the event (and/or you would like to contribute a couple bucks to help defray the admittedly modest booking fees).

THIS WILL BE GREAT

I'm going to try and make it - I work till 9:00 that night, though, but I would love to hang with some Boston FOTs.

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies and interest. I think this is going to be great. So you know, the Boston listening party now has a Facebook Event page. Seems like a good way to spread the word. If you haven't already, please RSVP on the Event Page and share it with your friends. The more the merrier. Seriously. Because if we are outnumbered by bar patrons who have no idea what's going on it will be harder to listen to Tom and we'll have to explain what our whole deal is.

Hi All,

Here is a poster I made for the Boston listening party. Distribute with abandon.

Looking forward,

One last thing:

The booking fee for the Midway Cafe was a VERY REASONABLE $75 (remember to tip your bartender!).

That being said, I am what is known as "cash poor," and while I was happy to front the booking fee, I would also be happy to accept a couple bucks from other FOTs interested in pitching in. Judging from the number of RSVPs so far, I think a donation of $5 or so should cover it.

Either way, come say hello! I'll be wearing my mouse-with-a-cape-on-it pin.

I hope the snow isn't too bad.  I'm going to keep it real though
