Mike or Tom will read this and they can tell you....or some braver soul than I! All good news though

Well it's been 2 weeks and no one has provided any details so maybe you can? And don't say I should joined the skype thing because that's not feasible when you live in Europe and have a job.

Someone provide some details, please, otherwise what's the point of this thread (which started with such details!)

First of all, big thanks to Fredericks for uploading AP Mike's Skype Thing every week.  The biggest thing you need to know is that Tom is trying to make his own studio.  He's going to do this completely solo.  This explains his asking for help with T1 lines a few weeks back.  If you want more details, you'll have to listen to the Fredericks' Mind Thing podcast in the link he provided.

Thankyou to both of you for that.

Ya, I listened to a few of the skype things. Mike said Tom had been shopping around podcast/radio providers but got frustrated with the lack of creative control he would have in those settings. Now he is building his own studio to ensure total freedom. Things should be up and running relatively soon.

Not too many details were given but it sounds good to me! I would speculate that it might be some kind of pay-service for listeners? It really baffles my mind that no one would give Tom a platform to do whatever he wants. It would be a big deal for anyone to put him on, I feel. The DIY approach is pretty badass, though. The Best Show for life.

I'm guessing all those shitty podcast networks (and they are all shitty, based on the product I've heard) are run by guys with egos, who don't want Tom coming in and displacing their existing number 1 flagship show (which they host themselves) and then them having no creative input to the now flagship show on their network.

As for radio, I'd bet it comes down to advertisers. The network, will want to have some degree of creative oversight due to the demands of their advertisers and/or they don't understand what's funny either.

So long story short, a paid DIY Best Show is good with me.

Espeically when a station like WFMU is the at the top, The Best Show was a true free form radio show, and the station that has no equals (ok maybe KFJC).  where to go from there?  NPR, and their bounty of fracking and monsanto money? (the best show on npr, coming up after the thistle and shamrock and before hearts of space!)  satellite radio?  we all know what happened to tom the last time he tried that (toilet talk...)

anyway, i cant wait...  we miss you Kid Jersey!!
you're gonna love hell, its a lot like Ohio.

Any time I think about a big radio station messing with the Best Show, I think about this.

I'm sure that he will accept your check.  He has a P.O. Box.  Or you could mail it to WFMU and I'm sure he'll drive down to pick it up.  Or you could send it to Massa's....Mike will be able to call him so that he knows to come to Bayonne and pick up the check.  Or you could Paypal him a donation.

There is no shortage of ways to get Tom your money.

Send it to Mike.

He'll do what's right.

I hope Tom comes up with a fundraising idea like the Boat Party thing on MaxFun but his is a hot Coors truck and it only costs $50 all the Coors you can drink and a ride across state lines, from Jersey to Weirdowood.

Mike could be peddling around one of those amphibious vehicles, that look like a duck, handing out warm Coors Light.

From Daniel Ralston's twitter account...

I had a really nice dinner with @scharpling tonight. You should be extremely excited about the stuff he has planned for the future. #vague

He sounded legitimately despondent in the intro to the last Low Times episode.
