What about Earwolf?

I do not know what Tom thinks about them, but couldn't they hook Tom up? Jake Fogelnest can influence them and Tom does not have to broadcast from California.

Tom (and every right-minded person) hates the Stamps.com/sex toy website stuff.

I never used either website, nor do I know about the issues. What are the issues with those websites / sponsors?

my best guess is that tom does not want to relinquish any ownership portion in the show to another entity which i assume rules out earkitten and dorkist. not sure how much maxfun could do for tom at this point.

I am sure people can donate equipment to him. Then, he just uploads it iTunes. Even at Earwolf, not all the shows have sponsors. Some shows are sponsored by the listeners. Just so you know, I wanted to interview him for a pretty well-respected site. He said he wants to lay low until The Best Show is back. So, that means that he's working on it. Now, that's a beautiful thing!

what i was saying is that my guess is tom would be against giving a podcasting consortium an ownership stake in the show in exchange for distribution and whatever else they provide. i am assuming that's how it works. and i feel dumb for even speculating like this.

thanks for the update and godbless.

It's not the sponsors specifically, but the fact that each show begins with an endorsement and is regularly interrupted by them.

Can you imagine Scharpling unironically saying the words, "we'll get back to that in a minute, but right now I want to tell you guys about Snus."

As a listener I was really spoiled by the WMFU Best Show experience. Even though I grew up in a world where all radio and television came with commercial interruptions, after Best Show, I've become very impatient with podcast endorsements.

I'd put up with a Squarespace or Adam and Eve spot from Tom, though, just because of the spiritual debt I owe him- but I somehow don't see that being in the cards.

If I started doing commercials in whatever the future version of the show is, they would be entertaining. Nothing has been settled, but realize that I didn't make five cents off The Best Show for 13 years. If we're gonna do it for real, we're gonna do it for real.

Don't worry, it will be better than ever.

Tom.

I imagine an ad on the Best Show being like when Tom would read a news article sarcastically (that Reader's Digest How to Be Funny thing, the Bob Dylan pizza incident article) while riffing on it.

I kind of gagged when I typed "riffing on it," but I wasn't sure how else to describe it.

Think Tom will keep it radio friendly if done online? I wouldn't be surprised to see it like this since he always took pride on-air about it being free of vulgar.

I'm pretty sure that garbage talk will be discouraged. I'd actually prefer it that way.
