So, I'm listening to a show from 2002 and Tom plays a track from my old band and back-announces it by saying "good stuff from those guys."

This is six years before I even heard of the show. Well, that's my cool story.  8)

I had a similar experience when I was listening to a randomly picked show and heard Tom calling my brother's album one of the best of the year.
