Huh. I'm aware of Muffs, but since I'm into every aspect of synths EXCEPT modulars I don't think I ever even signed up there. (GearSlutz still wins for most embarrassing forum name. I use their "GearSZ" forum skin to at least partially cover my shame.)

I'm a little surprised though; all the synthy places I go have their share of synth bigots and "professionals" who believe it's their job to shame anyone with less experience and smaller budgets than they claim to have, but I really can't remember encountering any explicit sexism or racism. It's mostly just gear snobs and guys who type like grandmas.

What kind of stuff are you talking about, outside of user avatars? (I've never seen any avatars there, actually. I wonder if it's because I've never had an actual user account?)

Well other then the NAME of the forum, and the proliferation of sexist avatars, there isn't much else to EXACTLY pinpoint. I know I tend to be over-sensitive about these things...but I'm male. The tonedeafness of it all is exasperating. Lord help you if you identify as a woman and out yourself. Look at the few threads that talk about the sexism and then weep at the cluelessness. I remember one comment about the internet being "genderless." AS IF. I'm probably a bit older than the median age--especially among eurorack users--and so I should expect a degree of naivete and immaturity. But the forum as a collective thinks itself as more sophisticated than other forums, and indeed their are some severely bright people who contribute to it. But it's just that nerd culture--that ugly thing that reared itself in that whole Gamergate shitpile--just a gross privileged lack of self-awareness that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth that makes it difficult to sometimes head over that forum that it otherwise an inspiring resource. (I spent several hours on it today...there's just so much good information about modulars on it!)
I can hear you judging me.

I never got why so many forums end up becoming so sexist. Its super creepy when it spills out into the real world like the whole gamergate thing. I think most of the guys are lonely and unhappy and they use women as scapegoats. Creepy shit man! Good luck!

On a similar note, will I always have to enter the capcha and security questions for this forum?

No.
