I always liked Fred from Queens, despite Tom's obvious displeasure during his calls. I think he may have been someone doing a character tho, as there were a couple of other similar voiced calls when Fred was apparently visiting his mother (in a country which i can't remember).

She lives in Israel. As in, "How was Israel? Israel was hot, man."

There were a number of similarly voiced but less "hey, man" calls that weren't from the Fred from Queens character.

I also thought he was a positive addition to the show.

I would love to see all the various regulars from years past show up on the new show--would be great to bring in new listeners. Where are Hodgman, Oswalt, Klausner, Maron, etc...there are a lot of them!
