Kliph Scurlock

a good deed never goes unpunished?

I know that Kliphy is a fan of The Best Show, and I don't believe that anything's been mentioned on the air, nor on this board, of the troubles he faced last year, when parting with The Flaming Lips.

as someone with strong ties to Oklahoma, and whose son is a registered Choctaw, I feel that Kliph's defense of the Native American headdress as something that should be culturally respected, no less, unmocked, needs to be lauded for it's bravery, and not swept under the rug of obscurity.

as they've been kind to me many times in the past, I'll spare the conversation over "what The Flaming Lips have become", but Kliph, despite his ill-conceived Queensryche tattoo, is a hero to many I know.

as they say here, down at the bottom of the world, good on ya', Kliphy.  you're one of the good ones.

All I know of the Flaming Lips musically is "She Don't Use Jelly," and I only know that because it was on that one Beavis & Butt-head episode, so I don't have a fan or anti-fan stake in that fight.

I was aware, however, of the whole "Kliph Scurlock got fired from the band" thing. All I can say about that is: Oklahoma has one of the most monstrous state governments in the nation, and Mary Fallin seems to be an actual monster herself.

I don't care if Wayne Coyne wants to be friends (or whatever) with her daughter. But for him to even feint at standing by Mary Fallin herself is pretty awful.

Would I still listen to Radiohead if Thom Yorke became a supporter of the British National Party? I dunno.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

are you sure that it was Beavis and Butthead, and not Beveryly Hills 90210?   they both featured that song at one point or another....  ::)

I could think of scores of things more worthy of ire that's come out of Wayne Coyne's mouth (like everything on At War With The Mystics), and I do find what happened deplorable, or at least indicitive of the douchebag politics some people wrap up into being a celebrity, but mostly, I'm just pro-Kliph.  he's a genuinly nice guy, with his heart in the right place, who chose to say something when most people would have kept quiet in fear of a collapsing career ladder.

the world needs more people like Kliph Scurlock, even if he does have a stupid Queensryche tattoo.  what a shitty band that is/was, QUEENSRYCHE.

I own one of Geoff Tate's The Warning-era capes.

s/t EP: Rules
The Warning: Rules
Rage for Order: Rules
Operation: Mindcrime: Rules++
Empire: Rocks
Promised Land: Rocks-
Hear in the New Frontier: Rocks-

The post-Degarmo era all Rots/Rots+ except for the passable Operation: Mindcrime II and the relatively good 2013 s/t album with new vocalist Todd LaTorre (at the time Mr. Tate had a dueling version of the 'Ryche, but he was told by device-afflicted Judge Davies to stop using the band name). I believe Mr. Tate is now a member of a traveling circus.

I'll have to defer to you, because, with utmost sincerity, I believe you to have superior taste in music.

that said, come back after you're rocking the full-skull tattoo, like some map to a hidden treasure that is the song Silent Lucidity; then, my friend, you'll be on level of Kliph Scurlock.
