Chicago appearance of S&W 3-19-15
« on: January 21, 2015, 08:04:00 PM »
OK, so I'm a lifelong Chicagoan but never been to Lincoln Hall.
Who's going to the show?
Assuming I get tix right at Noon this week, I will be there.
Can anyone suggest the best place to sit / stand?
And, if I want to do dinner beforehand, is there a way to eat in the music room? Or get something reserved there if I"m sitting in the restaurant?
CAN'T WAIT

Lincoln Hall is a pretty great place to see a show. Fairly small (cap 500), so pretty much anywhere is fine. Main floor is all standing. The balcony is horseshoe shaped, but has limited seats up there. That's typically where I go.

There are tables in the balcony facing the stage that can be reserved if you're planning on eating. There's a $25/person minimum, but I believe that also includes drinks, so it's not bad at all. Their food is pretty good if you wanted to just eat there.

Looking forward to this!

There's a thai restaurant right down the street called Thai Bowl that is very good and very cheap. That's always my pre-show meal when going to Lincoln Hall.

As for sitting/standing... when I saw Tim Heidecker/Neil Hamburger/DJ Douggpound/K-Strass there a few years ago, they set up chairs in the standing area. They might do this again, but even if they don't there's not a bad spot in the house.

Also, if you're into history you can see the theater where John Dillinger was shot (Biograph Theatre) right across the street from Lincoln Hall.

I'm stinkin' up my khakis just thinking about this show.

Assuming I don't have an issue getting a ticket, I'm going to drive down from Minneapolis for the show. It happens to fall on my 35th birthday. I'm very, very excited.

It's going to be a standing room show.

Right across from the Biograph used the be the legendary Lounge Ax club. And a few doors down from the Biograph used to be Wax Trax! Records. Both places were vitally important to me in the 80's and 90's.

I plan to attend this, if I can get a ticket to the show (and then figure out transportation). However, I have to work all afternoon and probably won't get to a computer in time to buy a ticket.

Thank you VERY much. Lifelong Chicagoan but felt stupid asking about a club. Miss the days of going to the Metro (even had to carry a girlfriend on my shoulder down those crappy stairs after she passed out)

I will be online at NOON sharp and hope to score 2 tix.

Just scored 2 tickets. Their checkout process is pretty wonky. The website looks like it's still processing, but I got an email confirmation of my order...

I got this too, but the website made it look like my order never went through. Email confirmation is good enough for me, I guess.

If I get there, and their 'box office' tells me that my name isn't on the list, you're gonna hear the loudest and longest "wait, whaaaaaaaat?" in the history of time!

Followed by "I'm gonna turn this place into a car wash."

I will do my rendition of when Tom had a ticket to a movie but got told it was sold out, and simply blow the eff up. Screaming, waving arms, the whole megillah.
