I was ready for this to be no good. The first episode wasn't particularly funny - they were clearly finding their way - but Episodes 2 and 3 have been funnier than the last two seasons, in my opinion.

It's stripped down a lot - to the remaining main characters, plus a new one who has provided the most laughs on the show so far. And the Dean is given a more prominent role, but not in an Urkel sort of way, which is what I was afraid of.

I give it a solid thumbs up so far. Very pleasantly surprised.

yeah, I think the second episode was my favorite so far and Paget Brewster has fit in pretty seamlessly, they haven't given Keith David much to do yet but I like his character and I have high hopes he'll turn out to be pretty great too.

I friggin' LOVE that Brewster and David are on the show. It sucks to lost YNB, but Paget Brewster has been an underrated comedy powerhouse for too long. Keith David has been hilarious forever.

Oh cool, turned my gf  on to community on hulu so I've been rewatching.

You know one of the things that lost it for me was,  how can they do another d&d episode,  have fucking david cross on it. ...and it's still not funny? ?

My favorite two moments so far were the freeze-frame/Eric Clapton song in Ep 2 and the Dean's reaction to the dog barking in the commercial in Ep 3.

I liked Yvette Nicole Brown but felt like they'd done with that character what they could do. I don't miss Chevy Chase at all but I do miss Donald Glover.

Oh, totally. Shirley was great but it was her episodes paired with Jeff that really set her apart for me and they pretty well completed their arcs across the NBC years.

Troy will forever be missed. I'm really hoping that his FX show is brilliant. I've been digging most of his music, so far too.

As much as I want this rendition of Community to be as good as the first couple seasons, I can't expect that. That would be unfair to what the show is now. Its good for what it is, and I am curious to see how new group dynamics form. I will say that they are not trimming the fat off the show anymore. Being restrained to 21 or 22 minutes of airtime cuts out some fluff. But now with 27 minutes - yikes. Some bits go on too long.
