(num num yum yum blah blah blah)
So about a month and a half ago I was paying $2.50 for a thing of english muffins. Now they're $3.30.
Pasta that once cost me $0.89 is now $1.20
Pineapple was $1 a can and now it's $1.29
This is all over the course of the last six weeks or so.
I'm going to have to start shopping at WalMart. It's something I never wanted to do, and I know it sounds like I'm pinching pennies, but it really adds up. I'm already shopping at the cheapest grocery chain around, clipping coupons, scouring the sales and specials every week, and budgeting my week's worth of meals. I gotta go where the cheap is.

yeah the price food is going up slower than I thought
with gas prices skyrocketing
you'd think it would be much worse

I'd say a 30% increase in the price of english muffins is pretty fucking bad, wouldn't you? What do you consider worse?
-
The pending collapse of the global economy.

I will come to your shores and buy all your precious "muffins".

I mean this only half tongue in cheek. ;)

Keep your paws off my nooks and crannies!

I'm honored that your 1000th post involved me.

Num Nums are currently at $130 a barrel.

Agree with this. My brother drives a truck and says many truckers work by long-term contracts, usually 6 months, so they haven't been able to pass on their costs -- yet.
On the brighter side, flat-screen TV's are still coming down in prices, and the prices of clothes have decreased over the past 10 years. Well-dressed TV watchers. Great.

I dunno, the Swedes* did beat us all up pretty bad back in ought, uh, ought. Like one thousand or whatever. Leif Garrett Erickson.
* Technically the Norse, which includes the then-inhabitants of Sweden. Plus I always misremember and think that Martin is from the Netherlands, or Denmark. Plus Leif Erickson was born in Iceland. Plus it's entirely possible that Leif Erickson didn't even encounter any North Americans, even if he did make it here, which is now more accepted but still not universally. And "here" would be Newfoundland, which is still not the United States and is only barely Canada (ask a Canadian). Plus, despite what my mother claims, there is no real evidence that my family has any Native American blood, making the use of "us" pretty doubtful even in the case that Leif Erickson did beat up some North Americans of that time period, which I already presumed that he didn't.
Good Lord, people - you're so picky!

You should be more honored that it involved my nooks as well!

AH! But ask a Rhode Islander about that and he or she'll tell a different tale.
Oh yes - a different tale, inDEEED...

I think everyone thought you meant that the price had gone up 60%, not that 60% is greater than 30%.
PROBLEM SOLVED.

weird when I was asked what I'd consider worse
I still believe a 60% increase would be worse by the way
I don't have the hard science to back me up on this
just a feeling

You're either trolling or getting trolled. Haven't concluded one way or the other myself, as of yet.

*shrug* maybe a little of both?
I'm versatile
