I always thought Wowee Zowee was a snooze, myself.

I'll add a thumbs up to that.

I tend to be guilty of loving music other people think is boring or slowwwww.

Exactly. I wish I liked his new one, because I think Janet Weiss is pretty kickass, but no. Awful.
-
Awful? Really? I've only listened to it twice but I didn't think it's awful.

ps: Filosofem by Burzum is actually a good album. Too bad ol' Varg is basically the worst guy ever. I am also encouraged by the people putting Led Zeppelin at the bottom of its bracket. I never got them.
edit: Ack! You changed your choices. I'd hate to see what kind of grader you are. "I'm sorry, but you didn't answer the question I just came up with."
Pavement below both GBV and NMH. Go! Team above Satogold, below MIA.

T. Rex
David Bowie
Talking Heads
David Bowie
T. Rex
Talking Heads
Uh, I think Ronald Thomas Clontle would put Bowie at the bottom because he's made too many ch-ch-ch-changes.
Eh, eh? *sigh* I'll show myself out.

Having Slanted 4th is a complete travesty of justice. Having Crooked Rain 4th is not much better. I thought the general consensus on Pavement was near unanimous. First 2 albums - top shelf, with a battle for supremacy. 3rd is the dividing line -- some prefer it to those previous, some see it as the beginning of the end. And the last two were at best also-rans, at worst disgracing their predecessors.
(Is there a thread here discussing artists whose later (awful/ repetitive / profoundly disappointing / otherwise problematic ) work has caused you to retrospectively re-evaluate the merit of the earlier creations?)

Why are the dB's ranking so low on everyone's list? They're way better than Badfinger and Cheap Trick...COMBINED.
-
Why are the dB's ranking so low on everyone's list?
Two words: Like This.
-
Why are the dB's ranking so low on everyone's list? They're way better than Badfinger and Cheap Trick...COMBINED.
'Cause I don't really know what I'm talking about, maybe. I do like Cheap Trick, though.
-
Cheap Trick might be the best band to appear on any of the lists in this thread (this in spite of the fact that 95% of their post-1979 output blows).
-
1 Pavement
2 Modest Mouse
3. Guided by Voices
disqualified -- Neutral Milk Hotel (not enough output)
New One: The Sibling Set

You are so lucky today is a new day. I would start another Trash Eric Luxury thread. What's your mailing address? I want to send you a copy of Blueberry Boat ( and multiple magazine subscriptions).

I want to send you a copy of Blueberry Boat ( and multiple magazine subscriptions).
I liked it better the first time when it was called the "Into The Woods" soundtrack.

I always feel disappointed by the Fiery Furnaces. One of those buzz bands that everyone talked about but always left me feeling flat. Like Vampire Weekend, or that Clap Your Hands Yeah band.

I had to google that
but it still hurt.

I almost spit out my Sierra Mist Free when I read that. Good show.
(But seriously, FF are awesome. Gravy Boat, I'll chip in on the postage with you.)

Save your money, fellas. We can agree to disagree with this band. To me they always sound like if Mr. Bungle wanted to make an album of showtunes rather than surf songs. Or John Junk's better dis.
-
Keep in mind that all Hollies judgements come from the era that included Graham Nash and that Byrds judgments come from when the band included David Crosby.
-
Hollies >>>> Byrds
Fiery Furnaces- EP was really good. It's not like anything else they've ever released.
-
All of this could be easily settled by using the formula for music correctness: (c@ + E) X (rP + iP + T) = mc
A definition of terms:
http://www.matadorrecords.com/escandalo/6/subjectivity.html (http://www.matadorrecords.com/escandalo/6/subjectivity.html)
As we can see the dBs (315) rank above Badfinger (255) and the Byrds (306.25) are clearly better than the Hollies (202.5).

I like the FF a lot (they have an awesome live show) but that was a really awesome zing.
