Title: Spike on "Shut Up Weirdo!"
Post by: LaunchCode on May 10, 2009, 07:26:41 PM
finally giving Shut up weirdo! a try and listened to the most recent 2 episodes (i liked it!)... was delighted to hear Spike ring in on the May Day show and offer thoughts on reality tv as "very gay" (topic being things that are "gay" but not homosexual)

is spike planning on defecting from the Best Show?  does he call other shows as well?

I think a good year off from Spike calls would be nice. Maybe he can build up some of his "mystique" back.

Not me, baby.  I was all in for the Spike mystique but now he's bombing with a capital omming.

If you want to achieve mystique, you don't go on a reality show rant in 2009.

Except you really don't want to miss it if Spike has a complete meltdown, do you?

Also, I'd like to know if Spike's favorite website is www.punoftheday.com.

I heard Spike (or someone who sounds like him) call into C-SPAN one morning.

More Best Show diaspora...

was cruising thru the Shutup Weirdo archives and Fredericks called in about 3 months ago!  I think he was actually calling in to the showing following Shutup, but he kept jumping the gun and they hung up on him not once but twice within 30 seconds...

I think Spike's right. He's never going to build up that mystique.

In my opinion, Spike is a genius. He's the Andy Kaufman of talk show callers. It's all an act and I'm convinced that off the air Spike is a perfectly normal fellow.

Does anyone agree with me?

Isn't Spike supposedly some famous record producer? I think it said so on Fotpedia.

The site apparently doesn't exist anymore (?) but I think it said it was someone who, like Spike says he does, lives in Queens.

I think we all know that he's really a character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Nope. I think he probably thinks he's putting on an act.

I would love it if Spike started talking about "the Spike character" in those terms on the air. This might be the approach he should take to answer Tom's challenge and freshen up his calls. The Actor Who Plays Spike could field questions about his process and how he develops and inhabits "the Spike character" when he calls into the show.

Maybe Tom could go the James Lipton route and hit The Actor Who Plays Spike with Lipton's beloved Bernard Pivot questions. Is there anyone not curious about his potential answer to "If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?"

I disagree even with this.  *Maybe* the Debbie the Dominatrix stuff was an act.  But all this is the real deal.

Whether it's an act or not, Spike knows how to get attention. Look at how many threads on this forum have been started about him.

Oh yes Pets. President O'Dreamy and I must be doing something right to get all of this attention.

Is President O'Dreamy one of your clients? I would certainly hope not.

And if you don't come up with something new for Tom, you're apparently going to be getting about the same amount of air-time as McDreamy.

Come on, Spike, I'm on your side! Work at it a little bit. YOU CAN DO IT.
