Title: You'll probably regret that Clay Aiken tattoo
Post by: Laurie on January 03, 2007, 10:02:40 PM: Some blog with some not-so-work-friendly ad banners (http://wallstreetfighter.blogspot.com/2007/01/lifetime-of-embarrassment-worlds.html) posted a bunch of regrettable tattoos. I happen to really like three of them. Guess which ones!

Hint: No, my faves do not include the mauled-by-Wolverine one.

The bowerbird would have a bright blue clothespin clutched in his beak (and it's definitely a male bird, mind you, because it's the guys who steal all sorts of pretty things and arrange them in a very specific manner so as to attract the ladies), and the magpie would have something shiny in her beak, maybe a diamond ring? I don't know.

I'd only get inked if I could snag Nick Baxter to do the honors. I know he's very good at rendering birds on flesh, as you can see in picture of the New Jersey Pride tattoo I attached below. Lovesit!

I guess Christ was King of the Jews, so it's not that far out there for a Unicorn to have a yarmulke. But, not having known of the symbolism of the unicorn, I looked for some info, and found the following;

From Wikipedia;
"The unicorn is the only fabulous beast that does not seem to have been conceived out of human fears. In even the earliest references he is fierce yet good, selfless yet solitary, but always mysteriously beautiful. He could be captured only by unfair means, and his single horn was said to neutralize poison."

Sounds pretty Christic, right?

if that's the case he should have had the artist to tattoo a line break in between the two pieces

I know. There's about 75 pages worth of tasteless tattoos at another forum I visit, and they're mostly vagtastic and dicktacular. Some people don't want to look at scary turgid penes rendered in ink or Looney Toons characters tattooed on and around a man's penis (along with the words "PARTY ANIMAL). Barfola!

There are some truly awesome tasteless tattoos, though.

I think it ties in with the era of "alternative rock" becoming a niche market ... around that same time, tattoos started shedding some of their "low-rent" stigma and became more of a hipster thing.

I can't back up anything I'm saying ... it's just my personal impression of events.

I think this also depends on where you are. In Chicago all of my friends college age have a tattoo or two or more, but none of the people I know here in Olympia have a single one. Sorry if this throws off the algorithm a bit.
