My attempt to make an Illustration of Tom
« on: June 29, 2008, 03:43:56 PM »
Here's my attempt to illustrate (in my cartoon style) Tom LivE on WFMU.
It kinda look to much like Richard Nixon, than Tom. But hey! I've tried.

I am the kid who told you to post it here, but -

IT LOOKS GREAT, I LOVE IT. And it is easily identifiable as Tom, no Nixon mix-ups here.

(P.S. That is a vinyl cut-out, yes? EVEN BETTER).

I think because if it was flesh colored, it'd be a lot creepier.

Why is he green?

I believe it's a spin on "you're a ghost" / Ghostbuster's Slimer

Great Work!

Thank you all for your nice comments.
All my characters are in bright vinyl stickers colours.
Why limit myself to the fleshtone palette?
And yes, it would of been creepy if that character
would be skin colour.

You can view my other work here:
(hope its ok for me to post it here)

Just wondered whether the green had any special significance, is all.

Great work, Shanks!  I admire your handiwork a lot.  I think you really chose the right background as well.  The woodgrain really makes sense to me, reflecting the simulated woodgrain of the FOT Credo and Pledge cards.

I really like your style, and agree the wood grain is a nice touch. You clearly have a talent towards that stylized retro look and I dig it, even if that green monster really does look like a Verne Troyer style Richard Nixon.
