I went to the Wonder Bar show last night in Asbury. It was terrific!
Ted Travelstead opened the show. I never heard of him until the show and he absolutely killed it! He's one of the best weirdo comics I've ever seen. If you ever get a chance to see him it's a must watch!
Kurt Braunohler naturally killed it. I'm of the opinion right now that he's the funniest comic alive. He's nudged past Dave Hill on my list. That guy just brings fastballs and has such a great bizarre style.
The comedy part of the show ended with GARY THE SQUIRREL doing his first live performance! Kurt was teaching him about the ins and outs of stand-up. I don't think I've ever seen something as wonderfully absurd/bizarre.
Obits killed it.
All-in-all, an awesome night.
On a side note, this was my second trip to Asbury Park in a week. I used to go to shows at The Stone Pony in my younger days. Asbury was one of the most frightening places I've ever been to. You had to pay homeless people not to break into your car and there were these gigantic abandoned half-finished housing towers and tumbleweeds on the boardwalk. I can't believe how great it is now! And the Silverball Museum is #1 and the best!
