Neil Numberman, Graphic Artist Lord God Supreme
« on: January 27, 2009, 11:33:20 AM »
Our favorite illustrator apparently got a New Yorker cover. If it turns out not to be true, he deserves one anyway.

Click on the upper left thumbnail.

Later I see that it was a submission that was not selected. DAMN YOU WHOEVER REPLACED TINA BROWN!!!

Neil is one of the most talented comic illustrators out there.

He's too good for those old men at the New Yorker. If he unveiled his portfolio in front of them, all of the valves on their oxygen tanks would burst and the steamwhistle sound would rob them of what was left of their hearing.

Let us pray Neil never goes near those poor, dear men.

I'm pretty sure Phil Mushnick is now the editor of The New Yorker

Once he succeeded in making tickets to sporting events affordable for us all and brought sports talk radio to its knees, this was a logical next move for him.

I'm sure Calvin Trillin et al. can't wait to gather around the stained mattress and get down to business.

Neil is such a talented comic illustrator that Edward Gorey defied all known concepts of technology, time and logic and invented a time machine so that he could travel to the future to get pointers from Mr. Numberman. In the end, Gorey simply stole some of Neil's sketches and published them as his own. Neil completely changed his own drawing style as not to infringe on Gorey's work BECAUSE HE'S THAT MUCH OF A GENTLEMAN!

I'm trying to force a new Internet meme here.

I liked that part where Edward Gorey jumped up and did the splits onto the kitchen counter

This reminds me that I didn't get the poster with my premium from last year.

Neil's submission is wonderful.

Unfortunately with that gallery, it's so darn big there are several top notch pieces, so there's really no shame in not being selected.  First rate contest.
