This is the thing though.  I don't read that as earnest, I read it as smug as hell.

If NBC is that lean on programming and that concerned about their comedy brand, there are dozens of folks I'm sure who'd be more than happy to take a stab at ushering in a new era over at that network.

Honestly, I would walk out on the deal. He has enough money to never work again and be comfortable, and he has the talent to ensure that whatever his next project was would be a success. No one would blame him.

I wouldn't want Conan to walk away from it (personally).  I was looking forward to growing into middle age with him as my generation's Tonight Show dude.  Leno needs to get lost and NBC needs to grow a new idea.

Seriously though, I wouldn't want to move to LA if you're not even getting the damn studio!  Conan should do his show from Seattle instead ~ umm, since it's where his wife is from.  Yeah, that's a good reason.
