I was a little surprised the topic was in fact sandwiches

I believe that when Tom said to Julie in the previous week "you will have a sub-show", he meant it in the way you might have a sub-topic, but Julie took it literally. If he had called it a micro-show, we probably would have wound up talking about beer.

Well, since you brought up Subway the week before, I thought it was an interesting choice.  Also, for some reason I like unpredictable hang-ups on the callers.
