i still think Good Bad Not Evil is my favorite black lips.  well, top three.

Oh, far and away.  It's a grabber and it don't let go.  I love Mr hardy and his label, and I like lo-fi but the production on a number of those records has kept me from enjoying them to their fullest.  i could not listen to Too Much Guitar by the Reigning Sound because the treble literally hurt my ears.

thats interesting about the treble.  there is nothing the reigning sound could put out that i wouldnt like.  in fact, i thoroughly enjoyed 'break up break down' despite my dislike for some of the twang.

'take a ride' brings it home.

Get the pair of live records if you haven't, hugman - great performances of those songs, without the production of that record (which I actually enjoy, but to each their own).  Also, I think their new one is out sometime this summer, and it's long overdue.

speaking of live, i keep crossing my fingers theyll make a cameo appearance at Gonerfest this year since they are releasing another album.  they played Gonerfest II and it was awesome.

See, I liked 200 Million Thousand. Not a whole lot, doesn't touch Let it Bloom, or even Good Bad Not Evil, but enough to give it a few spins. As much as I love the Black Lips (I have yet to see them live though), the live set/remix they did with the GZA was godawful. I love the 'Lips, and the GZA has spit some of my favorite verses ever, but the pairing was jumping the shark, to the extreme. It was almost bad enough for me to reevaluate my feelings on both acts. Anyone else have any feelings on the pairing?
